PowerBI Associate Certification Annual Renewal

It has been almost a year since I certified as a PowerBI analyst with PL 3oo certification. I took me a few months to prepare for the exam and it was not easy at all. Even though I work with PowerBI, I do little direct administration (there is a different team that does that) and sourcing of data is done through SSAS tabular model. Due to these factors, I had to study administration and certain ETL processes without actually using much of them. Still, after taking 2 courses, I passed with 81% to 70% minimal threshold. Also, I must admit after learning some really advance techniques, I realized that many items that I use (including DAX coding patterns) are probably in the intermediary range.

Taking the renewal exam was a different experience. The exam itself was much shorter (25 questions in 45 minutes), not proctored, and many questions were much easier than the original exam. Without studying I took it on a whim and passed with 80% of correct answers with 57% threshold. The moral of the story, if you passed the original PL 300 and using PowerBI at your day-to-day responsibilities, the renewal exam should be a piece of cake.
